The Sea Nymph

Fear gripped me, held me captive,
As I looked at the grey expanse
Of raging frothy waters.
Then out of its depth,
A sea nymph arose.
Her silhouette tall with flowing curves,
Midnight hair billowing out,
Its dancing halo framing emerald eyes,
And a fiery being.
Willowy arms reached out gracefully.
Moving fingers touched the waters gently.

At once,
The ripple of her caress
Spread across the turbulent sea,
Transforming before my very eyes,
The monstrous depth
Into an azure pool of shimmering love,
Beckoning me to plunge
Into its refreshing surface,
To dive in search of its eros heat.
I hesitated,
Until her form began to descend.

A new fear chained me.
Beads of trembling sweat,
Trickled in mocking rivulets
Down my cold, shivering body.
Needing her searing fire of love,
Mustering a strength
Existing within me,
I broke the chains holding me captive,
Tearing them off,
With a cry of outrage and soaring joy,
Flinging them far into space.

Not a moment longer,
My body propelled forward
In a sweeping arc motion,
Plunging deep into the waiting waters
Engulfing me,
As I swam swiftly in strong determination
To the sea nymph,
Already anticipating
The palpable inferno of love,
Setting me free
To once again swim,
Swim through the waves of life.
