The Dawn of You

From the core of my being
A new life emerged,
Out of a severed cocoon
In waiting arms to surge.
The smell of your skin,
Your head, your breath
Was sweeter than honey
And revived me from death.

New mammal instincts
Of me took hold,
More valuable and plenty
Than sought-after gold,
Was nourishing liquid
Of life to give,
From the swell of my bosom
For you to live.

A person I saw,
When you stilled to listen.
My voice you knew,
Your eyes told me with glisten.
Oh, the joy I have felt
On this very great day.
Let me keep it in my heart
Forever to stay!
